COLEUS FORSKOHLII PLANT:-Coleus Forskohlii also known as Plectranthus barbatus or Indian coleus is an important herb which is traditionally used as an Ayurvedic medicine for many years to promote general health and wellness.The plant has an erect stem and tuber like roots growing at a height of 20-30 cm. It has thick, fibrous, rapidly spreading and golden brown rootstock.
USES: Well known for the treatment of heart diseases, abdominal colic and respiratory disorders.
CULTIVATION: Coleus forskohlii grows in light or medium sandy loam soil that has good drainage. The plant is propagated either by roots or through terminal cuttings around 10cm. For 1 acre land, around 20,000 fresh stems are planted at a spacing of (60x30) cm, which is preferably done from June-July. Harvesting is done after 6 months of planting and yield an average of 500kg dry roots/acre.
